Common use
Ceclor CD belongs to the antibiotic. It is used to treat infections of the skin, respiratory tract, sinuses, ear, and urinary tract. It will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. It works by killing the bacteria that are causing your infection and by stopping the growth of it. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu).
Dosage and direction
Follow schedule and dosage given to you by your doctor carefully. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water with or without food. Do not cut, crush or chew the tablet. Take Ceclor CD at about the same time each day with food. This will have the best effect. It will also help you remember when to take the tablets.Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you. Do not split the tablets unless they have a score line. If you begin to feel better after a few days do not stop taking Ceclor CD. It is important to complete the full course. In other way the bacteria causing your infection may continue to grow and multiply so that your infection may not clear completely or your symptoms may return. Do not skip doses or stop your medicine early.
Precautions
Tell your doctor about all your allergies (food, medicines, etc.) Tell your doctor if you have or have had
kidney or liver disease, severe bowel conditions, if you are pregnant or you are going to be pregnant or are breastfeeding. Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how Ceclor CD affects you because it may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some people. Do not forget to tell your doctor you medical history.
Contraindications
Do not take Ceclor CD if you have ever had an allergy to any medicine containing cefaclor monohydrate, other cephalosporins, penicillin, or any of the ingredients that this drug consists. Do not give this medicine to a child under the age of 12 years.
Possible side effects
Below are side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible. Side effects include any allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, problem with breath, dizziness, fever or chills, redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth, seizures, severe or watery diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps
sore throat, swollen joints, trouble passing urine or change in the amount of urine, unusual bleeding or bruising, unusually weak or tired. There are other list of side effects that usually do not need urgent medical attention but you should inform your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome. This kind of side effects include gas or heartburn, headache, nausea, vomiting.
Drug interactions
There are some interactions of Ceclor CD with drugs like other antibiotics and probenecid. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially take your attention on live bacterial vaccines, probenecid, warfarin. Do not take Ceclor CD if you have allergy to cefaclor, or to similar antibiotics, such as Ceftin, Cefzil, Duricef, Fortaz, Keflex, Omnicef, Spectracef, Suprax, and others.
Missed dose
If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed. There should be an interval of at least 4 hours between doses.
Overdose
If you think that you or anyone else may have taken too much Ceclor CD immediately telephone your doctor because you may need urgent medical attention or contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. Symptoms of an overdose may include feeling sick, vomiting, upset stomach or diarrhea.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw the medicine away after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
